I agree with storm (partially) on this one.....people bot--- BECAUSE THEY CAN.
It was not completely discouraged (ok, it is against the eula, but it took a while before anet decided to actually do something about it, so people did what they could get away with at the time). Lots of people dont like to fail (have a nephew with this 'disease'....so bad, in fact, he refuses to APPLY for a job because he might not get it!!)....using a bot might keep you from failing at some tasks. People like to know how it will end---(have you ever looked at the last page of a book??) this is why there are 'cheats', a bot is yet another cheat (as has been mentioned). and the last (weakest) point---peer pressure, everyone ELSE is doing it, come on and join in, you dont want to be left out do you????????? those would be my reasons why others do it. I dont, have no reason to and have no peers for pressure....

People bot because they want rewards faster, with less effort, or they want to grief other players and win more easily.
In short, they want to cheat, because cheating is, in fact, easier than not cheating. Sad fact, but true.

Why do people bot?
They have no morals and no qualms about cheating. These are the same people that when you are playing monopoly and have to run to the restroom, they magically have an extra hotel on the board and an Extra $500 in their money stacks. |

Most people play games to have fun. If they are having fun botting then they will bot.
Some people play games for profit. You can profit faster by using bots therefore they use bots. I HOPE THIS HELPS |
